Diablo 3 Auction House to trade in real money

Blizz released today that along with regular in game gold the AH in diablo 3 will allow their 12 million subscribers (including many kids under 18) to buy and sell loot with real money. From each transaction blizzard will of course take its cut. I think this is a horrible idea! First, this is another step in the direction of games no longer being games and rather becoming peoples lives. They are already surrogate social lives for people who dont want to interact in real life, and now they will become a source of income. A rather purposeless source of income honestly. Secondly, with this Blizz is going to circumvent the age restrictions other gambling establishments are required to respect and open the door to any kid or irresponsible adult with a credit card. And that is going to draw the eye of big brother to the game industry, to tax and then to regulate. I guess we have to hope government will draw the line because apparently Blizzards corporate responsibility to the people (and kids) who will ruin their own lives with this wont.

Quotes

At a certain stage the realization strikes through that one must either live outside of society's bonds or die of absolute boredom. There is no future or freedom in the circumscribed life and the only other life is complete rejection of the rules. There is no longer room for the soldier of fortune or the gentleman adventurer who can live both within and outside of society. Today it is all or nothing. To save my own sanity I chose the nothing.
