Obama is intellectually dishonest regarding women's health

I'm a big fan of contraception. Frankly I feel people who choose to have a child of their own instead of adopting one of the thousands of starving uneducated kids living in filth out there in the world are making a selfish choice (Being adopted permits me to have high horsed opinions like that btw) The Federal Deptartment of Health and Human services director Kathleen Sebelius (who has a degree in public manangement not medicine or science) recently vetoed plans by the FDA to allow Plan B, "the morning after bill", to be sold over the counter. Obama supported this decision

“The reason Kathleen made this decision is that she could not be confident that a 10-year-old or an 11-year-old going into a drugstore, should be able — alongside bubble gum and batteries — be able to buy a medication that potentially, if not used properly, could end up having an adverse effect.”

Others did not.

Airforce dumps the remains of 274 US soldiers in landfill

What kind of broken, inhuman people approves and go along with this sort of thing? I jsut cant get my brain around the idea someone thought this was a feasible cost cutting measure or whatever so I'm dawning the tin foil hat and guessing there is something fishy with these dead soldiers that the military doesnt want us to know.

It showed that 976 fragments from 274 military personnel were cremated, incinerated and taken to the landfill between 2004 and 2008.An additional group of 1,762 unidentified remains were collected from the battlefield and disposed of in the same manner, the Air Force said.

Bad Schools : Bad Reporting

I posted a story in a news posts about a 9yo who was suspended from school for being overheard calling his teacher cute. Fox News is reporting that the Principle who made that decision has been forced into retirement. However a little more digging from other news sources show that the principle actually chose to retire rather than accept accountability. Shocking that a public employee would choose to collect all his benefits and not have to work rather than face the music isnt it?
As far as I can tell the whole situation is a charlie foxtrot. The kids should not have been punished and the Principle, unless there a whole lot that we dont know about him, should not have been given the ultimatum of demotion or retirement over this small issue. but it got me thinking - really why is this National News? I'm sure lots of good things happen at this school that dont make Fox News or my blog. Am I as guilty as Fox News for sensationalist journalism? Are we "down" on the public school system because all we hear is the negatives? We know Public Schools arnt doing well but unlike the foster care system as far as I know they arnt killing kids or permanently scarring their mental health.

Good Charlotte The Anthem (MOTW)

Heard this one the radio on the way home. Lots of teen angst and the final few stanza make no sense but a good song none the less.

State treasure just rotting away

This to me is really sad. Obviously this is a time for government to tighten its belt but why do we have money for a $500,000 museum about the Viaduct but not any to treat this beautiful ship with some dignity.

Bill passed legalizing sodomy and bestiality in military

Hmmm anyone ever read the bills they are voting on??

On Nov. 15, the Senate Armed Services Committee had unanimously approved S. 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act, which includes a provision to repeal Article 125 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

Article 125 of the UCMJ makes it illegal to engage in both sodomy with humans and sex with animals.
It states: "(a) Any person subject to this chapter who engages in unnatural carnal copulation with another person of the same or opposite sex or with an animal is guilty of sodomy. Penetration, however slight, is sufficient to complete the offense. (b) Any person found guilty of sodomy shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

Read more about the National Defense Authorization Act if you have the stomach.

Herman Cain bows out with a quote from "Pokemon" ???

For the record I dislike this guy from his first interview on CNN where he couldnt answer any questions put to him. I'm going to guess this quote was thrown in to sabotage him by a disgruntled writer since everyone knows "Digimon" was the superior monster capture show and had much better music. I have 2 songs from The Digimon Movie in my collection :: Lets Kick it Up and Kids in America

I, for one, welcome our Dolphin Overlords

Kepler (NASA's special telescope designed to find out where in the Galaxy we are) has spotted another planet within the life-habitable zone of its star. 600 years away if traveling at the speed of light, word is this planet is large enough to be gaseous but small enough to have major liquid bodies and a solid core..Its surface is also a lovely ~72 degrees F. That's like Florida weather!

Time to stop wasting money on wars and invest in breaking/circumventing that light speed barrier so we can visit?

I think "news" posts make me lazy

But here is another one. A couple of these come off Fark

Canada to test Fusion power plant
Bad School : Teen arrested for burping at school
Foster Children milked as source of income for Big Pharma
WSU to pay football coach $3+ million while tuition on the rise
Meet the Weta : World's heaviest insect
Bad School : 1st grader investigated for "sexual harrassment"
Photojournal of abandoned waterparks
Clinton groped in Myanmar
Message in a bottle sent from NC found in Portugal
Its MUCH cheaper to buy meds from Canada than in US
Bad School : 9yo suspend from school for telling friend his teacher was cute
3 part video on the history of online multiplayer games

I think we need a right to education amendment that prohibits schools from suspending kids unless they are an immediate threat to themselves or others. Sending them home to play x-box is not a punishment but can be destabilizing to the parents job and family stability.

25 demands of the Nazi Party

Gotta say, if you strip this list of its historical/cultural conflicts I agree agree with alot of these. Such as ::
11. That all unearned income, and all income that does not arise from work, be abolished.
14. We demand profit-sharing in large industries.
21. The State has the duty to help raise the standard of national health by providing maternity welfare centers, by prohibiting juvenile labor, by increasing physical fitness through the introduction of compulsory games and gymnastics, and by the greatest possible encouragement of associations concerned with the physical education of the young.
24. We demand freedom for all religious faiths in the state, insofar as they do not endanger its existence or offend the moral and ethical sense of the Germanic race.
The party as such represents the point of view of a positive Christianity without binding itself to any one particular confession. It fights against the Jewish materialist spirit within and without, and is convinced that a lasting recovery of our folk can only come about from within on the pinciple:

COMMON GOOD BEFORE INDIVIDUAL GOOD

Video posted proving Android phones record you illegally

As the title says really scary stuff. Everything done on an Android phone or that it is used for is recorded and sent to some "company" in California. Not kool. Make sure to watch the video though skip to 5 mins in where things get juicy.

The company told Wired.com last week that Carrier IQ’s wares are for “gathering information off the handset to understand the mobile-user experience, where phone calls are dropped, where signal quality is poor, why applications crash and battery life.” The company denies its software logs keystrokes. Eckhart’s 17-minute video clearly undercuts that claim. Every button you press in the dialer before you call,” he says on the video, “it already gets sent off to the IQ application. From there, the data — including the content of  text messages — is sent to Carrier IQ’s servers, in secret.

More news you can use!

I'll make a man out of you (MOTW)

The Citizens Campaign

I heard the head lawyer behind The Citizens Campaign group interviewed on NPR today. The Citizens campaign is a nonprofit in New Jersey trying to help people play an active role in government that doesnt involve "politics" and donations. The most interesting point I heard is how folks dont know about the huge lists of open smaller commitment positions in government that virtually anyone can get simply by asking for the mayors office for the appointment. And once your in...your one of "them". Anyhoo they have a bunch of video "classes" on their website on how to change laws or snatch up open elected positions and they claim if you are truly interested they'll provide free legal legwork. I think you should at least check out the instructional (free) videos

Obama loves the military

I voted for Obama the first time because I thought he'd drastically cut back the military spending and foreign action. The guy has done the complete opposite as maintaining and growing the strength and reach of the military industrial complex has been his priority.

Obama planning for "wars" in the Pacific
Obama paying private mercenary air farce to replace us in Iraq
Obama has increased the total size of the military

Either there is some great threat which only the presidents know about or Obama is trying to reduce unemployment statistics by bloating military recruitment.

Rambling about school

My refugee isnt doing too well in middle school.

Why are my Tax dollars paying for this ?

Congress cant come to agreement on basic needs such as medical care and social security but the Democratic and Republican parties each was just awarded 50 milllion dollars  in taxpayer money to pay for the security during their political conventions. I'm sorry but most of the candidates are multimillionaires and can pay for their own security thank you very much.

Thanks to Costco for making the effort

Props to Costco for offering interviews to the displaced employees. I'm not sure how many will take them up on the offer given they have the choice of not working and still being paid via unemployment, but at least Costco tried.

Important people apparently go missing regularly

I was looking into this story about the PennState guy showering with kids and I came across an interesting side story. In 1998 this coach was recorded by police admitting to having sex with one of the victims. The question at that point becomes why wasn't this guy changed then? The world may never know as the DA assigned to the case mysteriously vanished and even more suspicions the guy's computer hard drive washed up in some remote river

Costco's next funded Inititive : Let us sell pot

Via the Dave Ross show Costco efforts on liquior may make or break the legalize Pot movement

"Costco, confident that legislation allowing retail sales of liquor will pass, is already envisioning the next frontier: wholesale marijuana." Think about it. The legalization of marijuana all depends on whether its eventual sale is properly controlled and regulated. There's only one way to really regulate that and that's to have a store to sell it..“Our one concern is that customers will come in for some dope and spend all day milling around the sample tables.”

Wacky dates

Via the Dave Ross show- We've got a palindrome date (11022011) coming up as well as the infamous 11/11/(20)11...of course since our calendar is set to some arbitrary date the Byzantine church set 1500~ years ago I'm not sure how much it means. Its important to remember the world we live in is VERY western history-centric regardless of the thousands of years human civilization has been around. And this is only the stuff we know from what didnt rot away or was otherwise lost over time.

Steve Jobs & Thomas Edison

I was reading this article tribute to Steve Jobs and I noticed the author made the following connection about the quality of genius :

Both had less formal schooling than most of their respective peers. Both possessed the ability to visualize projects on a grand scale. Both followed an inner voice when making decisions. And both had terrific tempers that could make their employees quake.

I dont mean to toot my own horn but does that sound like anyone you might know? I would add this quote from Babylon 5 :

Greatness is never appreciated in youth, called pride in midlife, dismissed in old age and reconsidered in death. Because we cannot tolerate greatness in our midst we do all that we can to destroy it.

Btw like Bill Gates, and Christopher Columbus, etc etc Edison didnt come up with his ideas he just borrowed them from other people and marketed them better. In Edison case he was just a businessman who stole from an employee named Nikola Tesla. I understand the Tampa Bay Lighting are unveiling there new Tesla coil at an upcoming game

Rap about making cartoons

Phineas and Ferb is a seriously popular show on Disney and while unoriginal in that it borrows many of its characters and concepts from other shows it does bare one unique aspect in that it contains a musical short in every episode. Its one thing to write a cartoon script for every episode, its quite another level of creativity to throw in an original song in each episode.

Food trucks abound!

Apparently a whole culture of gourmet food truck eat'n has sprung up of late. Both In the Pacific Northwest and in Florida. I'm proud to say while living in Lynnwood we tried out several of the taco trucks in the area in an effort to show the foster kids more diversity in food beyond and Mac & Cheese, Pizza and sushi.  Guess I gotta get on the band wagon here in Florida. wonder if the model could be used to make mobile social service providers.

Where our education priorities are

In our broken, noncompetitive education system these days school employees are usually more at fault than politicians. One wonder what the ratio of gay teens to highschool dropout is at this school. We need to focus a little less on social engineering and a little more on making sure kids can read, write and count.

Army paid 7 million for one day of training

I'm all for boosting the strength and role of fathers in the family..but this is absurd. I'm sure Patty Murry has her hands all over this Seattle based Halliburton-esk effort.

That’s right — all of this cash is for training. Loving Families Loving Children Inc. won’t design or produce any special software to keep moms, wives and kids in touch with their SEALs, nor any fancy platforms to run it on. It’ll instead design “resiliency assessment analysis, workshops and training programs.” The crunchy-sounding company gets $9,380,746 for designing such courses through 2012, with an option to extend till 2016.

Obama puts boots on the ground in Africa

Meanwhile, if meddling in Libya wasnt enough..US taxpayers now get to foot the bill for 100 ground troops Obama is sending in to run some warlord's army. Change my ass. Here is more info about the Africa troop deployment. I'm all for saving people from rape and murder and the like..but supporting one guerrilla warlord over another isnt going to accomplish anything. Has it worked in ANY of the 100s of countries we've meddled with thus far?

A profoundly unjust world

The greatest disservice parents could do is cripple their children with "values". This world is a profoundly unjust place, as stories like this clearly show.

People who "do good" or are "innocent" are not any less likely to get screwed by life, and are perhaps worse off without a toolbelt of survivor skills such as being able to lie or shove women and children out of the way to get to the exit.

Boycott Columbus day

Stop celebrating false history created by the King of Liars, Richard Nixon! Teach kids the truth (which is more interesting) not the skin color biased psuedo-story. Columbus bought his maps and knowledge of the "new world" from Chinese sailors who had circumnavigated the globe in 3 fleets during the 1420's. He didnt actually discover anything and never made it to "America"..though he did visit Cuba and Haiti.

Via Salon.Com - a scary story about how easy vote rigging is. Electronic voting machines are the path of greed and laziness. Only 16% of the population votes on average so its not like they are counting 300 million ballots.

CERN tracks "impossible" faster than light particles

If this experiment turns out to be reproducible a chunk of Einstein and modern physics can be thrown in the hamper. I've always thought complex thought must violate the light speed limit otherwise you'd get chunks of ideas bleeding in like a train and its cars rather than the whole idea at once. My money is on these neutrinos moving so fast they skip out of our universe and then back in again..like being carried by a faster parallel stream and then falling back into the slow one.

BTW Time magazine profiled a 12 yo boy who had already got the jump on pointing out Einstein's errors

Jobs plan and gay soliders

I have a few comments on Obamas efforts of late to inspire the people who put him in office.

Angry birds economics

Cnn money is reporting that the popular smart phone game "Angry Birds" has surpassed 350 MILLION downloads. Depending on the version, each game costs between 50 cents and 5 dollars. Even if they are all the 50 cent version this company made 150 million dollars.

Angry Birds is a symbol of what wrong with capitalism today. Personally I found Angry Birds entertaining for about 2 minutes. And it probably took the writers of the game about that long to make. Designers of meaningful, complex games that are playable for years are all jumping ship and going over to facebook/app based game companies because the even the most successful PC games only sells ~500,000 copies. Just to turn a profit they need to charge $50-60 bucks per game. Like Wallstreet, all the incentive lies in the quick meaningless huge profit and early retirement. It also means the leonardo devincis of the industry are shackled to a grossly shrinking number of companies willing to produce these type of games.

5 Million without power

The authorities would like us to believe that 1 employee tinkering with a substation in Yuma, Az has "accidently" cut power to over 5 million people. San Deigo, Yuma and nearby Mexican boarder cities are all reporting blackouts. 2 Nuclear plants went into auto shutdown. Sony Online gaming network, headquartered in San Deigo, collapsed. Several sewage treatment facilities overflowed and leaked into the ocean. Traffic system are all down. I say no way - there are firewalls and trip switches to prevent massive surges across multiple grids. This event stinks of EMP weapon testing.

And Mel - hes like - wanna call me a anti-semite? Fine I'll make a movie about Jewish people. Tyrion Lannister said "If they want to give you a name take it make it your own. Then they can’t hurt you with it anymore." Look like Mel took him to heart.

The price of pot

I thought this map from Wired was pretty interesting as it charts the cost of an ounce of pot per state like gasbuddy does for gas. I'm not advocating usage btw..but if you absolutely have to use chemicals to relax..pot is easier on your body than beer or any other non legal option. As long as you dont smoke it. Costco or other warehouse stores sell humidifiers that are easily converted into bongs.

History of MMOs

An MMO (Massive Multiplayer Online games) is a game that is capable of supporting 1000s of players at the same time and contains at least one virtual world that remains active when the user leaves. The current largest western MMO is World of Warcraft with 11 million subscribers. China's "Happy Farm" has it beat with 228 million subscribers and an average of 23 million users logged in every day.

This awesome chart depicts most of the history of massive online gaming. I actually started playing MMOs with a game called Neverwinter Nights (seen in the picture above) which debuted in 1991. This chart has the added effect of making one feel really old.

Boeing pays CEO more than it paid in taxes

Via the Dave Ross show - corporate and person greed reaches an all time high in a report that find Boeing and other big corporations entire tax burden is less than what they pay one employee.

The report claims Boeing only paid $13 million in federal taxes in 2010. That's about $800,000 less than Boeing CEO Jim McNerney made.

One of the reasons I dislike working for Costco is that 50% of its workers are denied health care coverage while executives are being paid fat cat multimillion dollar salaries in addition to receiving health care benefits. If corporate profits dont go to taxes then they need be distributed to the workers not a few suits at the top.

Quotes

At a certain stage the realization strikes through that one must either live outside of society's bonds or die of absolute boredom. There is no future or freedom in the circumscribed life and the only other life is complete rejection of the rules. There is no longer room for the soldier of fortune or the gentleman adventurer who can live both within and outside of society. Today it is all or nothing. To save my own sanity I chose the nothing.

-James Bolivar DiGriz
