Baby steps towards the death of freedom

Apparently the major internet services providers in the US have agreed to start enforcing copyrights over the internet.

This is all about the greedy and dysfunctional music/movie industry still trying to control content over the internet. I'm fairly certain the intent here is a slippery slope. Now when their thuggish lawyers take some 17 yo college student to court at great cost they can show the judge these so called warnings. Or they can take the ISP to court and say "you issued 100 million warnings". This process will be used to show the number of acknowledged violations, never mind the legality of these copyrighters spying on people's internet usage. And please - appeals process ? Ya..that going to be just another "I'm guilty admission. Plus it costs money and can you see some poor kid trying to navigate this system..assuming he/she even gets the warning message..There also is no explanation as to whos resources are going to pay for this process..I certainly dont want the US courts to have judge these cases at taxpayer expense.

Artists should be paid fairy for their work. This effort to enforce copyright isnt about fair return for product. Its about maintaining the absurd wealth and arcane marketing practices of a dying top heavy industry that refuses to adapt to new technology and the changing culture.

As with much of our society, combating this takes money. If you dont like your ISP working with people who spy on you, your right is to take them to court. Which cost a bazzillion dollars and eats 10 years out of your life. And unlike a attorney for the RIAA you dont get paid for this sort of thing. The only people who have a fair shot at challenging this thing are the retired rich..who are not the demographic that will have to deal with it.

Quotes

At a certain stage the realization strikes through that one must either live outside of society's bonds or die of absolute boredom. There is no future or freedom in the circumscribed life and the only other life is complete rejection of the rules. There is no longer room for the soldier of fortune or the gentleman adventurer who can live both within and outside of society. Today it is all or nothing. To save my own sanity I chose the nothing.
