College money machine

There is another report out showing that college doesnt benefit the majority of attendees. Higher education has been transformed from a system that refines a professional to a parasitic money maker.
Students rarely walk out with more than they came in with; they are indenting themselves into the 100s of thousands so some other person, who hasnt worked in the field in years, if ever, can proclaim them worthy.College was conceived during a time when "advanced" knowledge was not nearly as available as it is today. Then it was pervert into a social status bar and now its just a money making treadmill/hoop to jump through. College should be about guided independent study on the information that is still rare in order to refine a professional skill. Not a revisit of 11th and 12th grade. If you need more highschool - Junior college, with its low cost, is the place for you. Or trade school, where you will learn practical skills. And if you need more time to find yourself or mature there are plenty of service programs and spiritual missions out there that dont charge 60k a year.

Quotes

At a certain stage the realization strikes through that one must either live outside of society's bonds or die of absolute boredom. There is no future or freedom in the circumscribed life and the only other life is complete rejection of the rules. There is no longer room for the soldier of fortune or the gentleman adventurer who can live both within and outside of society. Today it is all or nothing. To save my own sanity I chose the nothing.
