2101 Florida midterm election

So click below to hear my take on the recent Florida election
First I'd like to say that I dont agree with all the media people saying this election was a message to the president. In my opinon the majority of voters in this country never had anything to say to Barak Obama. They are the same voters who put Bush in the whitehouse twice. It was only an unpopular war and the absurd candidacy of McCain/Palin that moved a small number of them into Obamas camp in 08. And I mean that nationally. So this wasnt a new message..there are and have always been more white Christians out there and fewer minority factory workers and with the war not really an issues America is going to lean red.

Now florida was already red and it got even more so with all the geriatrics worrying about changes in health care. No surprise the republicans got major gains. There were 2 major elections - The Republican Marko Rubio is the new Florida Senator and a bald man (Rick Scott) is the new governor. Both of them are pretty scary.

Scott was the CEO of a major health care provider who was given a golden parachute when his company was found guilty and fined 100 million dollars for medicare fraud. His testimony in the trial was for some reason not allowed to be viewed by the public. Now hes the governor. There was absolutely no reason for people to vote for him except for the R beside his name. Alex Sink, his democratic opponent was a smart ethnic woman who had spent her career in finance and had no reason to lose -except for the D next to her name. I think she would have been a good governor. And I hope Scott was just lying about his right leaning republican leanings and will turn coat now that he is elected.

Marco Rubio on the other had had no real competition IMHO. The vote against him got divided between the democrat Meak who was boring and was asked to step down but wouldnt and Charlie Christ the republican governor who went "independent" when he lost the republican primary. I dont think anyone trusted him after that which is funny cause I think we want independents. Two things stood out for me at Rubios acceptance speech 1) The first words out of his mouth were " We have won because our great and powerful god willed it"and 2) Jeb bush, who had been fairly invisible since leaving the governorship was standing quite noticeably in the background. Word is this is the start of Jeb Bush/Marc Rubio 2012. Rubio is clean and smart and has 2.5 children and I'm sure a hot wife and dog and a white picket fence. Hes even a minority! He is also a tea party fiscal conservative. He is very very electable. What scares me is that he has no concept of the separation of church and state. At all. People will vote for this guy. I want to vote for this guy..but then we will be living in a theocracy.

Quotes

At a certain stage the realization strikes through that one must either live outside of society's bonds or die of absolute boredom. There is no future or freedom in the circumscribed life and the only other life is complete rejection of the rules. There is no longer room for the soldier of fortune or the gentleman adventurer who can live both within and outside of society. Today it is all or nothing. To save my own sanity I chose the nothing.
