Many north Florida public school still paddle students

Via NPR, corporal punishment is still alive and well in North Florida.

But Joe! Isnt hitting children wrong? No. There are many people who need/benefit from CONSISTENT physical consequences as a part of learning self control. Florida seems to have gone to great lengths to make sure the procedure for this sort of discipline is clearly laid out. As long as the rules are followed and there is a 2nd adult involved as a check on the authority calling for the paddling - I say we need more of this. Coarse I also feel we should bring back duels, canings and more dealth penalties to help correct the behavior of adults.  Shrug.

Quotes

At a certain stage the realization strikes through that one must either live outside of society's bonds or die of absolute boredom. There is no future or freedom in the circumscribed life and the only other life is complete rejection of the rules. There is no longer room for the soldier of fortune or the gentleman adventurer who can live both within and outside of society. Today it is all or nothing. To save my own sanity I chose the nothing.
